Driving a lease car has certain benefits over owning a car; Insurance, road assistance, maintenance and most damage are all covered in one monthly fee. Just supply the fuel and you’re good to go.
Not only employees at companies can enjoy this ’careless driving’ – private leasing makes this possible for everyone, in the form of a monthly subscription. The Dutch word for subscription is abonnement, hence the name Autoabonnement (literally, Car subscription)

Owning a car is still more common than private leasing a car (at least in the Netherlands), but the Autoabonnement website makes the switch inviting. This is in part due to the website’s informal tone-of-voice; bold colors, illustrative logo and large visual elements & typesetting. But also due to the manner in which the website guides a prospective client to the right car and contract. Cars are displayed as items in a webshop with recognisable filtering and sorting. Once chosen, a car can be further configured to fit the driver’s needs and wishes (and budget).

The initial interaction design for the ‘desktop’ view had been done by an external agency, I refined the design to comply to the client’s needs, wishes and later insights. I designed the touch/small screen views for M (tablet) and S (smartphone).
